Afternoon at Northbeach

During an amazing sunny september afternoon, we went to NorthBeach.
We could admire a wonderful sailing boat just next to Oak beach:

and then lie down on our beach towels... and enjoy the weather, the landscape, the life!!!

I'm always amazed by Chicago's skyline, especially when the sun is making a smooth fade-out:

And i definitely love Chicago's sunset and the reflection on the skyscrapers!

First Baseball match ever!

The famous US Cellular Field, baseball ballpark home to the Chicago White Sox of the American League:

Since 2003, the US Cellular Field has a capacity of 47,098.

Wonderful aerial view of the US Cellular Field (click on the picture to have a large-format photo)

Remark: it became U.S. Cellular Field in 2003 after US Cellular (a large american wireless telecommunication company) bought the naming rights at $68 million over 20 years. It's really common in the US.

The White Sox are one of two major league clubs based in Chicago, the other being the Chicago Cubs which play in the National League (a different American Baseball League). The White Sox last won the World Series in 2005.

And by the way, we have been selected for the next derby against Oakland Athletics:

Let's watch the new White Sox intro ^^
It seems terrific!!!

This stadium is impressive!!!
and the show was pretty cool! (even if the White Sox lost 3 - 11...)

The Willis Tower (ex Sears Tower)

Visit-day of the Willis Tower!

Willis Tower, formerly named Sears Tower, is the tallest skyscraper in Chicago, with 108 floors. It measures 527 m with the antenna and 442 m only at the roof-level. At the time of its completion in 1973 it was the tallest building in the world, surpassing the World Trade Center towers in New York. Currently, Willis Tower is the tallest building in the United States and the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world.

Although Sears' naming rights expired in 2003, the building continued to be called Sears Tower for several years. However, in March 2009 London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings, agreed to lease a portion of the building and as part of the agreement obtained the building's naming rights.

It's really huge!

And the 103rd-viewpoint is phenomenal!
O
n a clear day, you can see 40-50 miles around, the city of Chicago and its beautiful architecture, Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin, and the other side of the Lake Michigan!

As you can see, that was not the case this day!

Chicago's downtown:

The glass balconies!!!
The all-glass boxes allow visitors to look through the floor to the street 412 m below.
It's a kind of scary at first!

Oh man! The cabin has turned upside down!!!

And it's even possible to bump by chance into strange creatures from around the world...

Beautiful day, i met some nice people...so-called famous... why not!

And once more, the Chicago's 2016 Olympic Games candidacy is visible everywhere!!

We will know the final decision on October 2nd...

Second accomodation: Bridgeport, lot of fun!

Given that 1 euro = 1.46 dollars (when i am typing this post) it's really interesting to purchase stuff like: games console, electronic devices, TV set,.... moreover when you can divide the price into the number of buyers.

Well for the moment, we did it only for games consoles:

-a Playstation 2 :

-a Wii :

And as international students, it's really usual to invite each other at one's home before parties... and more especially after parties ^^
Though, everyone knows that a Wii or a Pro Evolution Soccer after-party is simply Legendary!
Well, we really enjoy ourselves during this kind of party.

Sometimes, we take time to cook delicious meals.
Below, the succulent home-made lasagnes:

Palak is practising his Super-Gay attitude... ^^

...while Barack (the teddy bear) is giving me a big cuddle (so cute this Barack!)

...while Ludo is doing the washing-up:

...and while Alexandre is "trying" to find a job!
It's the financial crisis, so obviously you have to resort drastic measures to get one!

Water Ghetto Blaster Melon !

After the old-fashionned ghetto blaster, ....

...the new chicagoan fruity trendy attitude:

Damn it! The Water Ghetto Blaster Melon has fallen down and is bleeding!!!

Well, no more Dolby Digital surround laser sound... but that was good timing because we were starving!!!
We really enjoyed ourselves!!
